Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT Settings on Nomisma – VAT Registered Businesses

From your business dashboard on Nomisma, click ‘Settings’ on the left menu. Then, click ‘Edit’ from the top right of the page.


Scroll down and enter your government gateway filing credentials:

HMRC Sender ID – Government Gateway ID

HMRC Value – Government Gateway Password

Click ‘Save’. You will then notice that the HMRC Gateway Setting level would have changed from ‘Agent’ to ‘Company’.


You will now need to generate MTD tokens to start filing MTD VAT returns. To do this, click ‘MTD Settings’ on the left menu.


Click ‘Read Token’ and you will be redirected to HMRC’s website. Click ‘Continue’ and then login using your Government Gateway credentials, you will then need to follow the onscreen instructions and once done you will be redirected back to Nomisma. Now the Read Access and Refresh Access Tokens are populated.

You will then need to click ‘Write Token’ and go through a similar process to fetch the Write and Refresh Write Tokens from HMRC. Following this click ‘Save’ from the top right of the page to save the access tokens. These will be valid for 18 months.
