Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT Settings on Nomisma - Accountants/Bookkeepers

When you setup MTD on Nomisma, this will apply to all the clients linked to your Agent Services Account. To do this, click ‘MTD Settings’ from left menu of your Agent Dashboard.

You will need to authorize Nomisma to interact with HMRC on your behalf, i.e., submit MTD Vat returns to HMRC.

Click ‘Read Token’ and you will be redirected to HMRC’s website. Click ‘Continue’  and then login using your Agent Services Account, you will then need to follow the onscreen instructions and once done you will be redirected back to Nomisma. Now the Read Access and Refresh Access Tokens are populated.


You will then need to click ‘Write Token’ and go through a similar process to fetch the Write and Refresh Write Tokens from HMRC. Following this click ‘Save’ from the top right of the page to save the access tokens. These will be valid for 18 months.

For all your existing clients and any new clients, you add on Nomisma, you will need to complete the steps below:

Open you client on Nomisma and then click ‘MTD Settings’ on the left menu. Then, tick the box ‘Confirm to Create Setting’ and click the ‘Setup MTD’ button.


Note: Your clients will need to be registered for MTD with HMRC.
